    Proceedings of the Board of Supervisors
    at their May Special Term, 1861

    The Board of Supervisors of Adams county met at the Court House, in Quincy, on Monday, the 13th day of May, 1861, at 2 o'clock P.M., pursuant to notice.

    The meeting was called to order by the Clerk, when on motion, Wyman Whitcomb, Esq., was elected Chariman, pro tem. The roll was called, when the following Supervisors answered to their names, to-wit:

    Houston, Samuel Woods
    ..
    Resolved, That the judges and clerks of the special Senetorial election, in January, A. D. 1861, be allowed one dollar each for their services at said election, as follows, to-wit:

    Sept. 9, 1862

    The following recolution was adopted>"Resolved, That the judges and clerks of the June special election, 1862, be allowed $1.50 each, for their services; and that each Supervisor be allowed $1 for posting the election notices."

    In accordance with the above resolution, vouchers were ordered to be issued to the following persons, viz:

    The Board elected the following named persons to server as jurors at the March term of the Adams Circuit Court, A. D., 1864, to-wit:

    The undersigned Committee appointed at the May term, to build a bridge across Willard's Creek in the town of Houstoon, beg leave to report that we did advertise, and received bids for building said bridge, and that we did let the contract with James Tuxford, of the towne of Keene, for the building of said bridge, for the sum of five hundred dollars. We further report, that the stone work is finished, and that there is dur said James Tuxford, as per contract, from the County of Adams, the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars, and that your order Coumty Orders to that ammount, (in twenty-five dollar orders,) and further, that said James Tuxford cannot draw said orders without an order from the Building Committee, as the bridge is not yet finished. The object of small orders is, that said Tuxford can buy material for construction of said bridge. - And further that there was a tax of two hundred and fifty dollars levied on the taxable property of the town of Houston, for said bridge. All of which is respectfully submitted for your consideration.

    Mr. E. W. Chapman offered the following resolution, which was adopted:
    On motion, it was ordered that judges and clerks of the general and special election, be allowed the sum of three dollars each, and those who acted for both elections to have double pay.
    In accordance with the above order, the clerk was directed to issue vouchers to the following named persons, to-wit:

    The Committee on Willard's Creek Bridge made the following final report, which was adopted, and the Clerk ordered to issue County orders for the amounts therein named:

    The undersigned, a committee appointed at the May term of 1864, to build a bridge across Willard's Creek, on the Clayton and Warsaw State roard, in the town of Houston, beg leave to make a final report, and be discharged as a Building Committee. The bridge was built according to contract, and was received and paid for in January, 1865, by the Building Committee, for the sum of five hundred dollars - two hundred and fifty dollars in Treasury notes, and two hundred and fifty in County Orders.
