Content
  • Text: December 8th, 1882, at the family residence in Houston township, Mrs. Eliza McFarland, wife of Wm. M. McFarland, in the 69th year of her age.
She was born in Greene county, Ohio, February 3d, 1814; was married to her now bereaved husband November 30th, 1837, and with him emigrated to and settled in Adams county, Illinois, in the spring of 1838. She was converted and joined the M. E. church in the fall of 1839, at a camp meeting held on the farm of James Willard, under the ministry of Smith McMurray and William Rutledge. She was baptized the next spring in the branch north of Hebron. She was a regular attendant upon the means of grace until her health failed her, two years ago on the 25th of November last. She was a devoted christian, a kind and affectionate wife, a loving mother, and was always ready to minister to the sick and needy. The funeral was preached from II Cer. v, 10, and her remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of friends. T. J. Bryany.
