He was born on 5 March, 1871, on his parents farm near LaPrairie, Adams County, Illinois. He was died 26 November, 1904, in Pontoosuc, Illinois at the age of 33 years and 9 months. He is buried in Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois.
He moved to Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois to get employment. He was working as a brakeman for the Santa Fe Railroad, and was killed instantly when the engine boiler exploded. He died on at the age of 33 years and 9 months.
Margaret Scully was the daughter of Edmund Scully and Margaret Godsil. She was born 21 January, 1873, in Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois and died on 23 April, 1954, at 901 Jefferson St., Quincy, Illinois. She is buried alongside her husband in Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois.
Margaret is found living with her family at age 7 in Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois in the 1880 Federal Illinois Census for the 5th Ward.
Willie and Maggie were married on 26 April, 1892, in St. Patrick's Church, Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois. Willie and Maggie lived first on 3rd Street and later moved to 1363 E. Knox St.

They had 3 children:
William Henry (25 Feb 1893 - 8 Jul 1974) m. Minnie Elizabeth Humphrey
Edna Margaret (25 Feb 1895 - 22 Feb 1977) m. 18 Jun 1918, Dr. Clayton James Hyslop (son of William Gillespie Hyslop (1864-1949))
Mary Fay (3 Jan 1902 - 31 Jan 1903)

Willie attended school in LaPrairie. When he was old enough, her worked for his grandfather, Alpha, on his farm. When he was a young man, he and his brother Joel came to Galesburg, Illinois and found work for the Chicago Burlington, and Quincy Railroad (C.B. & Q.). Willie was a brakeman, and Joel was a conductor. Willie worked there eleven years before going to work for the Santa Fe Railroad also as a brakeman. Willie had inherited a forty acre farm; he sold it when he got married, and purchased a house on the corner of Liberty and Third Streets in Galesburg, just west of St. Patrick's Church. After his first son was born, he sold that house, and bought another at 1363 East Knox Street in Galesburg, Illinois. On 26 November 1904, in Pontoosic, Illinois, the boiler on the engine of the train on which he was working exploded, and he and the fireman were killed.
After her husband’s death, Margaret sold her home on E. Knox St. and purchased a home at 543 S. Cedar St. to be closer to her folks. She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Catholic Order of Foresters. After her children were married she went to work first in the Catherine Club in Galesburg, Illinois, and then later at the State Hospital in Elgin, Illinois, where she retired in 1945. She lived her last years with her daughter Edna, in Quincy, Illinois.
