Personally appeared before me the authority subscribers Abraham Scribnerand Levi Scribner and under sollum oath that they saw Josiah Taylor of Norwalk signer and sealer of the within statement and in his Presents herd him Pronounce it ot be his Last Will and testament and that we Judged him to be of a sound mind and Dissposeing memory and set our hands as witnesses to the same in Respect of the other witnesses who is Dec'd and of the Testator

Know all Men by these Presents, That we, Jonathan Taylor Levi Taylor Gamaliel Taylor all of Norwalk in Firfield County & David Burr Jun'r of Fairfield in said County & State of Connecticut are holden all stand firmly bound and obliged unto Andrew Rowland Esq. Judge of Court or Probate for the District of Fairfield in the penal sun of five hundred pounds money of said State: To be paid to the said -- Judge or to his certain Attorney or Successors, in said office To the which Payment well or truly to be made and done, we the said Jonathan Levi Gamaliel & David do bind ourselves, and each of us, out Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, and each and every of them for, and in the Whole firmly by these Presents. Aigned with our Hands, and sealed with our Seals. Dated at Fairfield the 16 Day of November annoque Domini, on thousand seven hundred and ninety five.

The Condition of this Obligationis such That if the above bounden Jonathan Levi and Gamaliel Taylor Exectors of the last Will and Testament of Josiah Taylorlate of saif Norwalk deceased; ...

  • Text: In the name of god Amen the seventeenth Day of february & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven I Josiah Taylor in the town of Norwalk in the county of fairfield in the State of connecticut in New England being of a well and sound Dissposed mind and memory blessed be god for the same do make Publish and Declare this to be my Last Will and Testament

    first I recomend my soul to god Who gave it and my Body to be Decently buried and after all my Lawfull Debts are paid. I order my Estate to be devised in the following manner -

    first I give devise and Bequeah the use of one Half of my Landed Estate to my well beloved wife Thankfull Taylor during her widowhood also one Third part of my Dwelling hous that is to say the west End of s'd hous also a Privlidge of the use of the well for warter also the use of one Half of the Barn also the use of one half of my moveable Estate

    Item. I give and Bequaeth unto my sons Josiah Jonathan Levi gamaliel and Ahijah five parts out of Eight as my Estate is to be debided Into Eight parts to my Eight sones & there children that is to say my sons Josiah Jonathan Lewis gamaliel & ahijah to have five parts of my Real and personal Estate Exclusive of what they have already Received

    Item. I give and Bequeath unto the heirs of my son Barak one Eight part of my Real and personal Estate Exclusive of what my son Barak has Received

    Item. I give and Bequeath unto the heirs of my son paul & Eleazar Two Eights of my personal and Real Estate Exclusive of that they have already Received unless they should forfite There Estate to the State of Connecticut By joining with the Enemies against these State and if so forfited. I give and Bequeath the two Eights to my six sons namely Josiah Jonathan Levi hamaliel Barak and Ahijah to be Equally devided among them.

    Item. I give and Bequeath unto my daghter Sarah one half as much as I give to one of my Eight sons with what she has already Received to Be paid at my death By my Eight sons and their Heirs

    Item. I give and Bequeath unto my daughter Thankfull two thirds as much as I give unto one of my Eight sons to be paid at my death By my Eight sons and there Heirs also my front Chamber over the Entryway of my hous also the one half of my dwelling hous with what I have given to my Deloved wife Thankfull Taylor which is one Third she is to have the use of it during here singel life with a provelige to the well for warter.

    Item. I give and Bequeath unto my grandson Israel Nash son to my daughter Deborah Eight pounds when he Becoms of Lawfull age to Be paid By my Eight sons

    the above sums to be paid By my sons or the Executors to my daughter and grandson

    I give and Bequeath to my daughter Sarah one half as much as one of my Eight sons when the Estate is devided also Thankfull is to have Two Third as much as one of the Eight sons when the Estate is Devided to the whole of my 8 children

    I also hereby make ordain nominate and appoint my sons Josiah Jonathan Levi and gamaliel to be the sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament and I ? over them as my Executors to settel the will

    I hereby revoke make null and void all former wills and Testaments by me made and declare this only to be my Last Will. In witness whereof I the said Josiah Taylor have hereunto sey my hand and seal this seventeenth Day of februar 1777.
