Fairfield County SS in Norwalk June 13th 1814 Personally appeared Levy Scribner, Ely Wilson & Lewis Bennet subscribing witnesses to the forgoing instrument and made solemn oath that on the day and date above they saw Ahijah Taylor subscribe his name thereto and hear him pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will & Testament and that they then ad[?]ed him to to be of a sound disposing mind, memory and understanding, and that that they subscribed names in the precense of the said Testator and in the precense of each other.

At a Court of Probate held in Norwalk July 4th 1814. Personally appeared the within named Exec'rs and exhibited the within and forgoing last Will and Testament of Ahijah Taylor late of Norwalk dec'd to this Court for acceptance and approbation, whereupon it having been considered by this Court that said will has been duly proved the Same is approved & ordered to be recorded. the said Executors viz Gilbert, Dan & David having accepted the trust & given Bond for the faithful performance of the same and to make clear Estate in seven months

At this Court this Court limits and appoints Six months from this date for this date for the Creditors to the Estate of Ahijah Taylor late of Norwalk decd to exhibit their claims against said and the Exec'rs are hereby ordered to give public notice thereof at the Law directs

Appr under oath at Same Court the Executors of the last Will & Testament of Ahijah Taylor late of Norwalk dec'd exhibited the within fore going and made solemn oath that it contained a true and perfect Inventory of all the Real and Personal Estate of said dec'd that has come to their knowledge & if any more appears they will add the Same whereupon said Inventory was approved & accepted by the Court and ordered to be recorded

  • Text: In the name of God Amen I Ahijah Taylor of Norwalk in the County of Fairfield being weak in Body but of a Sound disposing mind & memory and understanding do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner & form following (viz) In the first place I order my Executors hereafter named to pay out of my personal Estate all of my Debts and funeral charges.

    Item - I give and bequeath unto my lovig wife Isabella Taylor $180 in money if in my possession at my decease and one third part of the remainder of my personal Estate to be hereunto forever, Also I give to my said wife to use and improvement of one third part of my Real Estate during her natural life.

    I give to my son Gilbert twenty Dollars to be his forever

    Item - All the residue and remainder of my Estate both Real & Personal I give and bequeath to my sons Gilbert, Dan, David, Samuel & Charles W. and to my Grand Children the Children of my son Robert W. and Thomas H. dec'd and to their heirs and assigns forever in equal parts and partitions which will be seven parts a partitions, that is to say my Sons to have each one share and my Grand Children the Children of my son Robert W. one share and the Children of my son Thomas H. one share deducting for an advancement from the share of the Children of my son Robert $200.00 which advancement I made to my son Robert W.. in his life time. Also deducting for an advancement from the share of my son Samuel the sum of $500.00

    Also deducting from the share of my son Charles W. the sum of $250.00 for an advancement made him, and my will further is that my said wife have the use and improvement of one half of my dwelling house towards her third part and the two youngest cows I have towards her third part of personal Estate, and my will further is that my Sons Gilbert, David & Charles W. shall have the use and improvement of the one half of the dwelling house so long as they remain single & unmarried, provided the said Gilbert and David allow the children of my son Thomas H. dec'd a home untill the are old enough to put to Ladies[?], Also my will is that my sons Gilbert and David be guardians to said children, and the said Gilbert & David and Charles W. shall keep the house in good tenatable repair during the tern they shall occupy it, and I do revoke all other wills by me heretofore made, and declare this to be my last Will & Testament, and I do constitute and appoint my sons Gilbert & Dan & David Executors thereof. In testimony thereof I hereunto set my hand & seal this 13th day of June 1814
