Note
Thankful French is the daughter of Sgt. Samuel French and Abigail Hubbell. She was baptized on January 23, 1707/8 in Stratfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut, and was probably born there shortly before.
She was listed in her husband's will dated, February 17, 1777. Her husband died on February 11, 1781, but the will was not proved until October 27, 1795, so it is assumed she probably died shortly before that time. It is unusual for a will not to be proved within a couple of years of a persons death. In some cases, the will does not get proved until the spouse dies, which may be what happened in this case. I do not have the documents on the proving of the will, so I do not know if Thankful is listed as living or deceased.
She is buried alongside her husband at the Old Westport Cemetery at King and River Streets in Westport, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
