Laysons Deed to Lucas Sullivant

This Indenture made this twentieth day of agust Anno Domini seventeen hundred and ninety six. Between John Layson and Margaret his wife of Bourbon County and state of Kentucky of the one part, and Lucas Sullivant of Mason County and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth, that we the said John Layson and Margaret Layson for and in consideration of one thousand pounds current money of Kentucky to us in hand paid, before the sealing and delivery hereof hath this day bargained and sold unto sd Lucas Sullivant the tract of Land whereon we now live, in the aforesaid County Of Bourbon, containing one thousand acres as by survey bearing date the fifteenth day of January one thousand seven hundred and eighty three lying on Stoners Fork of Licking, and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning on the South side of said fork on the bank at a black ash white Oak and Hickory running thence West five hundred and seventy two poles, to two white ashes and a buckeye on Edwards line, thence South two hundred and fifty poles to a Honey Locust and Buckeye, thence East six hundred and forty poles to two white Oaks, on the South side of said creek near Hustons creek, thence North two hundred and fifty poles to a cherry tree crossing Stoner three times, thence West sixty eight poles to the Beginning. To Have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Lucas Sullivant and his Heirs forever, which we by these presents do warrant and defend unto the said Sullivant his Heirs or assigns against our own claim or the claim of any other person or persons whatsoever, attempting to claim any part of said survey by or through our Right, or under us in any manner whatever - But we do not warrant it to said Sullivant or his Heirs or assigns against claimes that may be otherwise than under us. In Witness whereof we the aforesaid John and Margaret Layson have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this day and year first written - - -

This deed of bargain and sale from John Layson and Margaret his wife to Lucas Sullivant was acknowledged in open Court by the said John and Margaret, she having been first privately Examined as the law directs, voluntarily relinquished her right of Dower therein and Ordered to be recorded. - - -
