    District Court, holding sessions in and for the Parish
    of West Feliciana, State of Louisiana

    The petition of Margaret Layson (a widow), Nancy Layson, wife of Stephen Owen, herein authorized and "joined by the said husband, Sally Layson, widow of David Pond (decd), Alpha Forsythe, Eliza Forsyth, wife Daniel Musteen, herein authorized "joined by her said husband, Susan Forsythe, Mary Forsythe, wife of Archibald Owen, herein authorized and joined by her said husband, all residents & Citizens of ______ County, State of Illinois, of John M Layson a citizen of __________County, State of Indiana, and of William Layson, Zedekiah M Layson, John Martin Layson, Robert W Layson, Margaret Ann Layson wife of James McMoore, herein authorized and joined by her said husband, America Layson, wife of James B Moore, herin authorized & joinedby her said husband, all citizens of Bourbon County, State of Kentucky.

    Respectfully replies into that on the _____day of _____ in the year of 1850, Col. Robert Layson, late a citizen of the Parish & State just aforesaid, departed life intestate, leavin al large sucession in the Parish wherein ------- ------- has been duly & legally opened, consistiong of Real Estate, slaves person of property, right & credit as will ------ to an inventory and appraisement of the ------- to be informed in the record of your honorable court.

    Further Represent, make sure Robert Layson died will without.

    Learn any descendent that he left surviving at his death, your petitioners who are his nearest of kin and sole legal heirs.

    That is Margaret Layson is the mother of said deceased, and entitled to one fourth of his estate of five twentieths ------ thereof, John M Layson is a full brother of the deceased and entitled to three twentieths parts thereof, that Nancy Layson & Sally Pond are full sisters to said deceased and are each entitled to three twentieths parts of his estate. That Alpha Forsythe, Eliza Musteen?, Susan Forsythe & Mary Owen are children of Margaret Layson Deceased, a full sister to Robert Layson decd and are entitled by a resolution to inherit three twentieths parts of said sucession, Next, William Layson, Zedekiah M Layson, Robert W Layson, Mary Ann McMoore, John Martin Layson, & America Moore are children of Isaac Layson deceased, a full brother of said Robert Layson and are entitled to by representation to inherit three twentieths parts of said sucession of Robert Layson deceased.

    Further represent, that on the ____ day of 1850, John S Owen, a resident of the Parish & State just ------ was apppointed, Curator of the Estate of Robert Layson, decd. by your honorable court, that by virtue of said appointment he has possesion for the Estate and is administering -------- -------- the said Estate is perfectly solvent there being funds sufficient on hand at the date of said deceased death to pay and ------- all his liablities.
    Represent that known petitioners are all present either in person or by some one duly authorized to represent them, and are all above the age of majority, and they are desirous of being recognized as the legal heirs of Col. Robert Layson deceased. Where sucession they accept purely and simply and assumed to be placed, as such, in the possession thereof.

    They Represent that John M Layson is present in person and that he is duly authorized represent Margaret Layson, Susan Forsythe and Mary Owen. That Nancy Owen is represented is represented by her duly authorized agent John S Owen. That Sally Pond is represented by her duly authorized Agent Alfred Pond. That Alpha Forsythe and David Musteen authorized agent of Eliza Forsythe are present in person.
    That William Layson is present in person and is fully and duly authorized to represent Zedekiah M Layson, John Martin Layson, Robert W Layson, Margaret Ann Layson wife of James McMoore and America Layson, wife of James B Moore.

    Wherefore the previous considered petition ------ that John S Owen, Curator of Estate of Robert Layson decd. be citied to answer.
