Note
In 1798, David Compton, her father-in-law, Abraham Sneden, her supposed grandfather, and Joseph Lamoreaux are all listed as early settlers of Kirkwood/Conklin, Tioga County, New York, but since her parents married in 1782, this does not mean much.

According to B. F. Compton, her son, she was born in Dutchess, Orange County, New York in 1786. In the 1790 census, the only Lamoreaux's living in Orange County, New York are John, John Jr., Isaac, Luke, and two Peters. They were all living in New Cornwall. Joseph was born in the Cornwall disctrict and was living there through 1777. In 1790 there is another Isaac Lamoreaux living in Clinton, Dutchess county, New York. Joseph married in Newburgh, Orange County , New York in 1782, and according to his revolutionary war pension affidavit, he moved between 1791 and 1796 to Chenango county, New York. He is not found in the 1790 census. There are all members of the same family.

The family then moved to and area between Lake Kegonsa and Stoughton, Wisconsin in 1841. James is listed in the 1860 Plat book for Dane County, Wisconsin. There is a James H. Compton listed in the Will book for Fulton County, Illinois, but it is not certain that they were the same individual. Their son Jonathan Jesse Compton lived in Fulton County, Illinois at the time of his death.
After James died in 1867, Phoebe went to live with her son Benjamin in Dunkirk, Dane County, Wisconsin where she is listed in the 1880 Federal Illinois census. Phebe is not found in the 1870 census. Both Andrew and Benjamin are found in Dane County, Wisconsin, and their mother is not living with either one. According to a biography on Benjamin, his parents remained in Dunkirk until their deaths.

When Dewitt C. Compton died in 8 Mar 1848, James Byrd Compton married his wife in 1850 and took over guardianship of his minor daughter, Sophrona Ellen Compton in April of 1855.

Andrew Jackson had a daughter Clara Jane (-15 Jan 1942) who married Frank Haymaker. They had a daughter, Ethel Haymaker (21 Mar 1892 - )
