Their son Jonathan Jesse Compton lived in Fulton County, Illinois at the time of his death.
After James died in 1867, Phoebe went to live with her son Benjamin in Dunkirk, Dane County, Wisconsin where she is listed in the 1880 Federal Illinois census. Phebe is not found in the 1870 census. Both Andrew and Benjamin are found in Dane County, Wisconsin, and their mother is not living with either one. According to a biography on Benjamin, his parents remained in Dunkirk until their deaths.
