  • Text: This Indenture made and entered into between Oliver Forsythe & Margaret his Wife of the one Part, and Charles D. Lenox of the other Part both of the county of Bourbon & State of Kentucky Witnesseth: That the said Forsythe and wife for and in consideration of the Sum of one thousand dollars to them in hand paid & secured to be paid by the said Lenox, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have this day granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell, convey and confirm unto the said Lenox, his Heirs and assigns forever an undivided sixth part of a Tract of three hundred acres of Land, being the same Tract of Land of which John Layson senior died seized & possessed and which has descended in coparcenary to his Heirs at Law of whom the said Margaret Wife as aforesaid of said Oliver is one she being entitled to one sixth part of the same. The said Tract of land lies on Stoner in the county afore said. Together with all and singular the premises aforesaid, with its appertenances. To Have and To Hold the said undivided sixth part of said Tract of three hundred acres of Land, to the said Charles D. Lenox, his Heirs and assigns, will warrant and forever defend against the claim of themselves, their Heirs & E but against no other claim whatever- In Testimony whereof the said Parties of the first Part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, this 6th day of July 1829.

    Commonwealth of Kentucky, Bourbon County to wit I Tho. P. Smith clerk of the County Court for the County afore said, do certify that this Deed from Oliver D. Forsythe & Margaret his Wife to Charles D. Lennox, was this day produced to me in my office, and acknowledged by the Oliver to be his act and Deed. and the said Margaret being examined by me privily and apart from her husband, declared that she did freely and willingly Seal and deliver the said writing and wished not to retract it, and acknowledged the said writing again shown & explained to her, to be her act and Deed and consented that it might be Recorded. Whereupon the same, together with the foregoing certificate hath been duly admitted to Record in my office. Given under my hand, this 12th day of October 1829.
