Family Note
Johannis Wagner is the son of Peter Wagener and Margarethae Gaveler. He was born on February 15, 1805 in Fliessem, Kreis Bitburg, Germany and baptized the next day at the Heiligkreuz Katholisch. He was confirmed into the Catholic faith on May 31, 1825, also at the Heiligkreuz Katholisch. He married Elizabeth Jane Heinz, the daughter of Henrich Heintz and Catharina Weiler on February 15, 1832 in Fliessem. Elizabeth was born June 24, 1804 in Matzen, Kreis Bitburg, Germany. It is assumed Elizabeth's middle name is Jane because she is listed as Jane in one of the census records.

They had seven children, all born in Germany:

Peter (bp 15 Jan 1832 - 22 Sep 1925) m. Mary Baltes
Frederick Henry "Henry" (bp 8 Aug 1834 - ) m. Lena Wiesen
Gertrude (bp 2 Nov 1836 - 16 Apr 1899) m. John Belting
Maragretha "Margaret" (bp 21 Sep 1838 - 26 Sep 1906) m. Peter Bernard
Nicholas J. (bp 12 Aug 1840 - 28 May 1913) m. Agnes Pittshe
Catharina Gertrude (bp 10 May 1842 - 7 Sep 1904) m. Johannis Dahm
Elizabeth (bp 3 Apr 1847 - ) m. Jacob Becker

At the time of their emigration, they resided in Flieszem, Germany. They boarded the sailboat Edwing in Antwerp, Deutschland on May 4, 1850 and sailed to New York, arriving on June 3, 1850. They arrived in Paris, Kenosha County, Wisconsin on June 7, 1850 and settled there on a farm. They were members of the Brighton Catholic Church. They remained in Paris until 1868, when John retired, and moved to Kenosha, Kenosha County, Wisconsin. John died there on May 8, 1892 at the age of 87. Jane remained in Kenosha until 1898, when she moved to Chicago, Cook County, Illinois to live with her daughter Elizabeth. She died there on April 20, 1902 at the age of 98.
