Family Note
Mathias Dahm was the son of Nicolas Dahm and Elisabetha Ferring. He was born in Welschbillig, Eifel, Germany and baptized there on December 17, 1812. He died in 1902 in Niles Center, Cook County, Illinois. He married Barbara Weinand who was the daughter of Wilhelm Weinand and Elisabeth Weber. She was born on April 9, 1810 in Matzen, Germany. She died between August 30, 1870 and June 9, 1880 in Niles Center, Cook County, Illinois.

Mathias and Barbara had several children, all of which were born in Prussia except the last one who was born in Illinois:

Nicolas (1 Jan 1836 - )
Apollonia Carolin (2 Feb 1837 - )
Johann F. (23 Nov 1838 - 13 Sep 1918) m. Catharina Gertrude Wagner
Angela (13 Aug 1840 - 1917) m. Mathias Foegen/Fiegen
Peter (16 Aug 1842 - 6 Apr 1847)
Carolus (16 Mar 1845 - 1845)
Peter Julius (1 Jan 1850 - 23 Dec 1930) m. Wilhelmina Gertrude Fortmann
Anna Maria Clara "Mary" (7 Jul 1855 - 1917) m. Eberhardt Blamenser

The family emigrated from Germany and came to America arriving in New York on August 4, 1851 aboard the Reliance with Mathias' father. Mathias is listed as Matthew on the passenger list. The last port of departure was Antwerp, Belgium. The ages listed on the ships register vary widely from their actual ages. I am not sure why this would be.
