  • Text: Your great grandfather, Al Loebach is the younger brother of my daughters’ great grandmother, Mary Helen (called "Lena" as a child) Loebach who married Carl Martin NIELSEN 28 July 1910.

    Their mother, Mary Catherine Broscheid born 21 Dec 1856 in Neunkirchen, Germany married their father, Frank Joseph Loebach 1 Dec 1883 in Caberry, Ford County, Illinois.

    I only have a little bit of additional information gleaned from Mary Helen many years ago. I remember her mentioning Al and Clara, and I met Al once in about 1958. They were neighbors in Chicago and he was quite tall.

    I don't have any more on Mary Catherine Broscheid except that she was known as "Little Grama" because she was so short. I never met her. Maybe the Peter Broscheid in your records is the breakthrough I've been looking for.

    William Loebach, son of Frank Joseph & Mary Catherine, was known as "Willy." He had encephalitis as a child, and lived for a long time in a care facility in Aledo, Illinois. Willy was born 16 Mar 1895 and died in April 1976 in a hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.

    Mary Helen Loebach was born 23 Aug 1884 in Caberry and died 22 Sep 1975. She was known as "Grama Great" by my daughters. She and Carl Martin Nielsen had three children, Martin "Marty" born 1914 died 1980; Carl William born 1912 died 1994; Francis "Fran" born 1913.
