Family Note
Johann Broscheid was the son of Johann Broscheid and Anna Marie Peters. On January 30, 1851 in Neunkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, he married Anna Katharina Cornet, the daughter of Ferdinand Cornet and Maria Elisabeth Katharina Groß.

They had the following children:

    Anna Maria (13 Oct 1853 - )
    Maria Katharina (21 Dec 1855 - 12 Mar 1941) m. Franz Josef Löbach.
    Helen (17 November 1859 - )

They may have had another child, Peter Broscheid (abt 1855 - ). This Peter arrived on board the "Zeeland" from Belgium in the United States on October 4, 1904 (manifest #25) at the age of 49. On board the same ship, 2 seats away, was a Franz Jos Lobach (manifest #23) at the age of 48 - probably the husband of Peter's presumed sister Maria Katharina Broscheid.

Johann Broscheid is perhaps the son of Johann Broscheid and Anna Marie Peters. Joseph Schneider, a researcher from Much, Germany, has suggested this because:

1. he is of the correct age span to be their son, born about 1826.
2. his presumed aunt, Anna Marie Broscheid, immigrated to Leonore, LaSalle County, Illinois in 1855.
3. his presumed father, Johann Broscheid, immigrated to Leonore, LaSalle County, Illinois between 1856 and 1870, possibly in 1868.
4. his presumed nephew, Peter Wilhelm Broscheid, immigrated to Leonore, LaSalle County, Illinois, before 1883.
5. his daughter Maria Katharina Broscheid immigrated to Livingston County, Illinois (which borders LaSalle County, Illinois) in 1881 or 1882, around the age of 25 years, and she certainly would not have come alone.
6. his daughter Maria Katharina Broscheid's marriage license has listed as a witness M. Broscheid. This is possibly her presumed cousin, Maria Katharina Broschied (of the same name), the sister of Peter Wilhelm Broscheid.
7. his daughter Maria Katharina Broscheid had 1 or more children born in Dwight, Livingston County, Illinois between 1884 and 1895, and his presumed aunt, Anna Marie Broscheid, had a grandaughter born their in 1877.

The implication here is obvious - members of the same family seem to have immigrated to adjoing counties in Illinois, though different generations seem to have come at different times. Possibly Peter Wilhelm and both Maria Katherina's came together in 1881 or 1882. It is also possible that Johann is the son of one of his presumed father's 4 known brothers, but is less likely, because their relationships to the immigrants is more distantly connected.
