Note
Some genealogies suggest that his daughter Martha W. Brewer was born to a first wife by the name of Frances who may have died soon after. Census records for Martha indicate that she was born about 1797/1800. William Brewer's probate records indicate the Martha was the eldest child. William married his second wife, Nancy Morriss, the daughter of Samuel Coleman Morriss, on October 1, 1796.

William White Brewer was the son of Sackville Brewer and Martha White. He was born about 1772 in Henry County, Virginia. The Henry CO Tax List of 1814 lists William Brewer with 135 acres on Horsepasture, ten miles from the Court House. He died intestate late in 1814 or early 1815. Henry County Court Orders show that John Dillard Jr. was appointed guardian to Martha W., Matilda M., Lucy, Samuel, Lorenzo Dow, Sarah, Catharine, William Patterson and John Brewer, infant heirs of William Brewer, deceased for the purpose of defending a suit brought by Thomas Nicold. (Order Book 10, p.213)

It is thought that he was the William Brewer who first married Frances ______ in about 1793

Frances probably died soon after. The dates fit nicely to support this William. A great-grandaughter of Martha, Laura Stevenson, refered to her several times as Martha White and Martha Brewer White in her letters.
