    Dear Me. Slane,

    I am replying to your letter of enquiry which you sent to V. Rev. Canon J. Aherne P.E.. He is 92 years of age and is retired. I am P.P. in his place. I enclose what information I can gather from the records.

    i) Enclosed are the Marriage Certificate pf William Godsel and Mary Reily and the Baptismal Certificate of Patrick Godsile.

    ii) With regard to the Birth/Baptism of William Godsel all I can say is that it looks from the Records here that he must have come from another parish as the earliest record of a Godsel being born/baptised in the parish of Aghada is that of Michael Godsel whose parents are shown as William Godsel and Mary Reily and the date is given is 1st of September 1840. The records in this parish go back to 1792 and in all there are records of 13 Godsels.

    iii) There is a record of Mary Reily being born/baptised in March 1815(the date of the day in the month is not legible). Her parents are given as Daniel Reily and Margaret Hogan and Whitegat is given as an address - it is in the parish of Aghada. The baptismal sponsors are given as John Fitzgerald and Anste Ceary.
