Text: Osbert de Bolebec and Avelina, sister to Gunora, duchess of Normandy, had a son Walter Giffard, created lord of Longueville by Richard, duke of Normandy. This Walter Giffard had a son, Walter Gifford, 2 lord of Longueville. This Walter Giffard had two sons and a daughter, including Walter Giffard, 3 lord of Longueville, created earl of Buckingham by William the Conqueror. This Walter Giffard and Agnes, daughter of Gerard Flaitel, had a son, and a daughter Rohais, who had St.Neot in dower, 1086. Also, Richard the Fearless, duke of Normandy, by Gunelda, a Danish lady, had a natural son Geoffrey, earl of Eu and Brione, ob. circa 1000. This Geoffrey had a son Gilbert of Brione, lord of Bec, count d'Eu, and captain of Tellieres, ob. 1034. This Gilbert, and Gunora, daughter of Fulk Alan, had four sons, including Richard FitzGilbert, earl of Brione and Clare, and Gilbert, lord of Tellieres. This Richard, and the previously mentioned Rohais who had St.Neot in dower, had a daughter Rohais. The previously mentioned Gilbert, lord of Tellieres, had a son Ralph de Tellieres. This Ralph, and the most recently mentioned Rohais, had a son Robert de Tellieres, who assumed the name of Giffard. This Robert had a son and heir Gervaise Giffard. This Gervaise had two sons including Sir Roger Giffard. This Roger, and Anne, daughter & coheiress of Sir William Brewer, had five sons, including William Giffard. This William had three sons, including Bartholomew Giffard. This Bartholomew, and Joan, daughter & heiress of Peter de Halsbury, had two sons, including Baldwin Giffard. This Baldwin, and a Joan, had a son John Giffard. This John, and a Sybel, had a son Walter Giffard. This Walter, and an Isabell, had a son John Giffard. This John, and Joan, daughter of Richard Deuclive, had two sons including Thomas Giffard. This Thomas, and Wilmot Knight, had a son, John, and a daughter, Margaret. This Margaret, and William Coffin, son of John Coffin and Thomasin Hathey, had two sons and a daughter, the sons being Richard Coffin, son and heir, aged 30 years at his father's death 1486, and John Coffin of Northam, 2 son. This Richard, and Alice, daughter of John Gambon, had three sons and a daughter, the sons being Sir William Coffin, Richard Coffin (2 son), and John Coffin (son and heir).

The following is from the "Coffin of Porthledge" genealogy, beginning on page 208, and from the "Giffard of Halsbury" pedigree, beginning on page 396. Vivian distinguishes the original visitation material from his additions by putting the visitation material in italics. None of the material quoted below was in italics, so it was presumably all from Vivian's "additions". Vivian is a respected source, but some errors have been found in some of his work.

[This source is known to have many errors. For instance it conflates Gilbert Count of Brionne the illegitimate son of Richard the Fearless and Gilbert Crispin the husband of Gunnora.]
