Mr John Beach Sarah Sherman and Phebe Booth all of them personally appeared in Newtown In ye County of Fairfiled on this 8th Day of August A:d: 1740 and gave under oath that they saw Mr Ebenezer Prindle the Testator sign and seal ye above will that to ye Best of their knowledge they heard him declare the same to be his Last will and testament that to ye Best of their observation he was there of sound understanding and that they signed the same as witnesses in presence of the Testator.

Before me Tho Tausey Justice of the Peace

At a Court of Probate held In Fairfield August ye 19th 1740 - Joseph Prindle one of ye Executors in sd will named personally appeared and accepted ye trust comitted to him by ye Testator and Jehoshaphat Prindle ye other Executor refused to accept of ye same -- At sd Court sd will being exhibited by sd Executor in order for approbation sd will being proved is by sd Court approved and ordered to be recorded

To Jehosapat two acres of land and medow and a Barn one
To ye two acres of Land & Barn prised at 40.00.00

To Ephraim two acres of medow land: formerly Edward Fairchilds Prised at 12.00.00

To Joseph ye Dwelling House and 6 acres of land adjoyning thereto with all ye frute trees thereon prised at 150.00.00

At a Court of Probate held in Fairfield August ye 19th 1740. Joseph Prindle Executor to sd Last will and testament of Eben'zr Prindle late of Newtown Dec'd exhibited ye foregoing inventory and made solemn oath yt ye same is a true and perfect inventory of all ye Estate of sd dec'd yt know of and if any more hereafter appears belonging to sd Estate yt he will cause ye same to be inserted sd Inventory being proved is by sd Court approved and ordered to be recorded.

  • Text: In the name of God Amen, I Ebenezer Pringle of Newton in the County of Fairfield - Colony of Connecticut in New England, calling to mind the certainty of my Death, being sound in mind & memory, Do make & ordain this to be my last Will & Testament.

    In the first place, I commit my Soul into the hands of God who gave it, hoping for a blessed Ressurection & Eternal life thro' the merits of Christ my only Saviour. My body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executorshereafter named. And as to such wordly goods as it hath Pleased God to bestow upon me, after my just Debts & funeral expenses are paid, I give, Bequeathm & Devise in manner following.

    Imprimus, I give and Bequeath to my son Joseph Pringle & to his Heirs forever, one acre of land adjoyning to his home lot bounded north on the highway, South on his Brother Ephraims Land, & west on his Brother Jehoshaphats land, also my Dwelling House & my house lot or home lot with all the fruit trees thereon excepting two acres at the west side or end, & that my son Jehoshaphat shall have the privledge of passing & repassing & laying wood on the east side of his dwelling house. Sd Home lot is bounded northerly by the home meadow Easterly & Southerly by common land or the highway. Provided he shall pay all my Debts & Legacies hereafter mentioned which my moveable Estate is not sufficient to pay -- Then, I give to my son Jonathan Pringle Five shillings which shall be the whole of his portion.

    Item, I give to my son Nathan Pringle Ten Pounds, this to be the whole of his portion

    Item, I give to my son Ephraim Pringle & to his Heirs forever, two acres of Meadow land, adjoyning to the north end of my house lot, which two acres, I bought of Edward Fairchild.

    Item, I give to my son Jehoshaphat Pringle & his Heirs forever, my Barn and two acres of land being the westerly side or end of my Home lot & meadow, which two acres is bounded northerly on the house meadow, westerly on Moses Tilsons land, Southerly on the highway & Easterly on that part of my house lot I above gve to my son Joseph.

    Item, I give to the children of my son Benjamin Pringle deceased Twenty shillings to each of them when they come to the age of Twenty six years.

    Further, I ordain & appoint my sons Joseph & Jehoshaphat Pringle the Executors of this my last Will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this twenty sixth day of June Anno Domini 1740,

    Interlined betwixt line 21, & 22, & line 23, & 24, these words. & to his Heirs forever, before signing & sealing
