My dear little cousin. We have not heard from you for a long time. What are you doing? Are you still living at the same place? Helen has been very busy doing her spring sewing, and house cleaning, painting and gardening will soon begin. And I must say I am glad to see warm weather once more, as we have had a long cold winter. Julins, after being at Fort Thomas for four months, went to Magaquez Port Rico, and remained there about three months, but found his health giving way, secured a discharge and came home. He is now practicing medicine at Millersberg. He is not entirely well yet, but is much better. When did you see Celino? and where is Alconia? I saw H. at Atlanta, Ga last July also at the G A R in Cincinnati in last September. I enclose you a copy of a clipping from a Glasgow (Scotland) newspaper about the Forsyth family, which you can paste in your scrapbook. The only knowledge we have of our direct family, is that my grandfather, Major Isaac Forsyth came to Paris, Ky in 1805, from Baltimore, Md. and always understood the family was originally from the North of Ireland. His first wife was Miss Von Brown, that is your Great Grandmother, their Children were, Augustus, Denmark and Oliver. His second wife was a Letton, their children were, Ann Millirre, Elvira Hayth, Omeilia Stiffee (ce), Vivian Hulcee, Avalina Forsyth[,] Thompson, January and Alexander. Your uncle Augustus has a daughter now living in this county, Miss Francis Leach, who is about 65 or 70 years of age. If you will send me the address of Dr Hulcee's children and your aunt Omelia and her brother, I will send them a copy of the enclosed History.

Think you come and see us this summer. With love to your mother yourself and hoping to hear from you soon.

    [?]
    your cousin,
    A.S. Forsyth
Helen gives me in love to your brother
When did you you hear from Dr Townsend and Miss Matlic, our love to them

A. S. Forsyth (1889): "always understood the family was originally from the North of Ireland."
According to the 1790 census, he was born before 1774. The 1800 census puts his birth between 1756 and 1744 and the 1810 census puts his birth before 1766. This would imply his parents were married about 1765
