Note
Pierre Lamoreaux was the son of Daniel Lamoreaux and Jeanne Margarite Masse. He was born on September 6, 1726 in New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York, and was baptized there at the New Rochelle Angelican Church on October 2, 1726. He died on March 3, 1821 in Southfield, Cornwall Precinct, Orange County, New York. His will was dated March 25, 1816, and probated on March 23, 1821. The Americanized version of his name is Peter. He married first Martha ______; no children are known from this union.
Pierre mortgaged home and gave the money and supplies to aid the Continental Army. In 1775 he served on the Commission of Safety & Observation.

I have not found any verifiable source for the maiden name of his wife. He calls her Phebe in his will. The are several published books that say she is Phebe Wood and give a marriage date without any reference as to where it came from. They also say she is the daughter of Benjamin Wood and Catherine Covert who were married at the Reformed Dutch Church in New York City. Benjamin's ancestry is known, and Catherine Covert, the wife of Andrew Bird is also known, but it is unclear if they were the two who married there.
Family Note
Pierre Lamoreaux and Phebe Wood were married in October 30, 1748 in New York ["The Mercereau Family" by George E. Sawyer, 2001 pg 4]. They had 10 children, all born in Phillipstown, Putnam County, New York.
