    To John Basset, knight, Thomas Stucley, William Denys of Orleigh, John Willemer, Fooke Prydeaux, John Fortescu of Brighlegh, John Coblegh, Anthony Pollard, and Thomas Wolcombe esquires and Thomas Denys (his feoffees by deed of 19 October 19 Henry VII - 1503)
    Manor of Merlond (Marland) to be held to the use of his wife Margaret for life - should she refuse the jointure provided for her from property in Liteltoriton (Little Torrington) with successive remainders in fee tail to his sons Lewys, William, Robert, John, Thomas and jointly to his daughters Katherine, Jane, Philippa and Anne
    Manors of Blacktoriton, Liteltoryton (Black, Little Torrington) and Badstone and properties in Lyncomb, Dartmouth with the "burgh" of Blacktoriton to be held in trust to provide for
    1. A priest to sing for his soul and those of his father and mother for one year after his death in the church where he shall be buried
    2. The payment of his debts
    3. The provision of 40 marks apiece as marriage portions for his four daughters or if unmarried 140 marks to be divided equally among the survivors
    4. To send his five sons to school until aged 21
    5. To the use of his son Lewis in fee tail with successive remainders, as for the manor of Merland (except the manor of Badstone and the tenements called Hywyke Brug and Cove in Black Torrington)
    Manor of Litleyarmyscombe to be held to the use of his son William, but if he become a priest with a living worth £20 a year and has no heirs the next eldest surviving son is to succeed him
    There are to be successive remainders to Robert, John and Thomas in fee tail
    Hywyke tenement, in the tenure of Philip Whitehere to be held to the use of his son Robert for term of his life with successive remainders to Lewis and the other children, as for the manor of Merlond, Brug and Cove, in the tenure of William Alleslond to be held to the use of his son John for the term of his life, with successive remainders to Lewis and the other children, as for the manor of Merlond
    Tenements in Chireton, Wilkeston, Slade and Mylle to be held to the use of his son Thomas for the term of his life, with successive remainders to Lewis and the other children, as for the manor of Merlond.
    The manor of Badstone to be held to the use of his son Lewis with successive remainders to his other sons
