  • Text: 13 June 1916,

    Dear Cousin,

My father’s name was Denmark Forsyth. He was a half brother to your father. I have found some new relatives through an old Will which my father had in his possession. Could trace relationship if I knew the name of our grandfather Forsyth. A relative is writing a history of the Forsyth race and it is necessary to know our grandfather’s given name. Polk could have told me. Am sorry I did not ask him years ago. Our grandfather Forsyth moved from Baltimore Maryland to Paris I was told some years ago and that his old brick house was still standing. Will you please examine records at Court House and tell me when and by whom the property was bought? That I suppose is the only way could get grandfather’s given name. It must have been seventy years ago or longer. Polk told me that we had a cousin Avalena Forsyth near Paris. She was Uncle Augusta’s child also said had some relatives near Cynthiana descended from Uncle Augustus. Please let me know at once or tell me in what way to proceed. I suppose you are the only child of Uncle January living. Would like to know something about you also. I will anxiously await a reply.

    Mrs. Avalena Forsyth Brown
    Shepherdsville, KY
