    to Josias Thompson

    This Indenture made this Eigth day of September Eighteen hundred and three, Between Isaac Forsythe and Ann his Wife, of York County in the State of Pennsylvania of the one part, and Josias Thompson of the City of Baltimore of the Other part, Witnesseth that the said Isaac Forsythe and Ann his Wife for the purpose of Securing the payment of a certain debt due and owing from him the said Isaac Forsythe to a certain Hillary Thompson amounting to the Sum of Four hundred and twenty five Dollars and in Consideration of the sum of five shillings Current money to them paid by the said Josias Thompson at or before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged, Have granted bargained sold, released, assigned, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do grant bargain, sell, release, assign, convey and confirm unto the said Josias Thompson his Heirs and assigns, All that Lot Piece or Parcel of Land Situate in Hanover, which is contained within the following metes and bounds to wit: Beginning for the same at the Corner of Baltimore Street and a twenty foot Alley, and running thence Westerly binding on said Baltimore Street, fifty seven and a half feet, thence Southerly two hundred and fifty feet to Snyder's Alley, thence Easterly binding on Snyder's Alley fifty seven and a half feet, thence by and with the said twenty feet Alley on hundred and fifty seven feet to the Beginning. ? With the Buildings and appurterances thereunto belonging and All the Estate Right Title Interest Property Claim and Demand of the said Isaac Forsythe and Ann his wife of in and to the same, To Have and to Hold the same to the said Josias Thompson his Heirs and Assignes forever Provided always and in Trust for the uses and purposes following that is to say, That he the said Josias Thompson his Heirs and Assigns shall and may at any time after three months from the date hereof or giving ten days public Notice sell and dispose off at public Auction the said Lot of Ground and premises for Cash, or Credit, as to him or them shall seem fit, and the same to convey and assign to the purchaser or purchasers thereof; And the Amount of the purchase money to Receive, and thereout to pay and to satisfy to the said Hillary Thompson his Executors Administrators or Assigns the said debt or sum of Four hundred and twenty five Dollars and all Costs attending the Execution of this Trust, and the Surplus if any to pay to the said Isaac Forsythe his Heirs or Assigns In Witness where of the parties hereto have set their Hands and Seals the day and the year first above Written,

    On this Eighth day of September Eighteen hundred and three personally appeared before me James Calhoun Esquire, Mayor of the said city Isaac Forsythe and Ann his Wife and Acknowledged the aforegoing deed to be their and each of theirs Act and deed and desired that the same might be Recorded as such, that said Ann having been by me first privately examined and declared that She executed the said Deed and made this her Acknowledgement thereof willingly and freely without being induced thereto by fear or threats of, or ill usage by her Husband of fear of his displeasure at the same time Came Richard Hill and Made Oath that he did see Isaac Forsythe & Ann his Wife & Josias Thompson Sign Seal and as their Act & Deed deliver the aforegoing Deed,

    In testimony whereof I have hereto set my Hand and caused the Corporate Seal of the said City to be hereto affixed the day and year aforesaid. - Jas Calhoun, Mayor of the City of Baltimore

    A true Copy taken from and Compared with the Original at York the 20th Day of February A. D. 1804 -

    I Conrad Sherman do by virtue of a Letter of Attorney (executed to me by Josias Thompson, and which is this day Rrecorded in Mortgage Book L.) Acknowledge that full Satisfaction has been made of the Debt and Costs in this mortgage mentioned and therefore hereby discharge the same and release the mortgaged premises, Witness my Hand and Seal this 21st day of August A.D. 1804.
