Note
[Commentary[Cawley:"The chronology of her [first] husband’s family suggests that Mabel could have belonged to the same generation as Robert Marmion [V]. Her possible second marriage is indicated by the following document. King John granted “totam terram que fuit Hug de Ferr ex parte Margar ux sue i balla tua” to “Willo de Kantilupo”, dated [15/21] Aug 1204, followed by an order to the sheriff of Worcester in favour of “eidem W totam terram que fuit Hug de Ferr ex parte ipsi Margar et tota terra que fuit Rog de Aumundevill ex parte Mabil ux eius”. “Margar” was Margery de Say, Mabel’s daughter by her [first] marriage. The document makes no connection between “Margar” and “Mabil”, although the transfer of the lands of both ladies suggests a connection, which in turn suggests that “Mabil” may have been the same person as Margery de Say’s mother or, alternatively, that she was an otherwise unrecorded sister of Margery de Say.
