It is not clear when Johann the father emigrated. His eldest daughter emigrated in 1855, but his wife did not die until 1856 in Germany. It is unknown if his second child, Perter Broscheid emigrated, but Peter's son Peter Wilhelm certainly did prior to 1883. There is a Johann Broscheid, age 60, farmer, who immigrated to the port of New York on April 20, 1868 from the port of Bremen Germany aboard the SS Weser (manifest #547). His point of origin is listed as Niederwennerscheid, Germany. He appears to have been travelling alone, and is the only person on board listed from that village. Johann the father would have been age 70, so it does not seem possible that he is the Johann Broscheid aboard the SS Weser.
