Commentary
Charles Cawley states that his parents are not known, but Stewart Baldwin says the name of Alain's father is given by an eleventh century Angevin document, which states that he was an illegitimate son of an otherwise unidentified Ridoredh, and brother of Pascweten. The fact that Alain was a brother of Pascweten is confirmed by contemporary sources.
