It is sometimes claimed that her surname was Wheeler. If so, Abigail Wheeler, the daughter of John Wheeler and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Rowland, has been eliminated as a possibility. According to S186, that Abigail was born about 1680 and died in 1706, unmarried. This is proved by her inventory, dated December 21, 1706, where her next of kin are listed as her brothers, John, Joseph, Jonathan, and David Wheeler; her brother-in-laws, Nathaniel Porter, Samuel Beardsley [sic], and John Beardsley, her sister, Ann Wheeler, and Daniel Comstock who represents his dec'd mother, Elizabeth Welles who was another sister. The distribution on April 14, 1707, adds Sergt. Samuel Wheeler to this list.
