Cawley: "The supposed ancestry of Leofwine Ealdorman of Mercia is taken from the Genealogia Fundatoris of Coventry Monastery. Most of the details have not been confirmed in other primary sources. It should be noted that the chronology is extended. Freeman dates this document to no earlier than the reign of King John. This alleged ancestry should be treated with considerable caution."
