Burke (pg 383-384) places him as the son of Hugh de Mortimer (d. 1188), who was the son of Ralph de Mortimer (and Millicent _____), the presumed son of Roger de Mortimer, the comapnion of the Conquerer, who was himself "deemed" to be the son of one of the brothers, William de Warren or Walter de St. Martin.
