Stewart Baldwin: '... the Ban Senchus entries for Doirenn (a woman of vague ancestry who was mother of the other Gilla patraic mac Donnchada), states that her son Gilla Patraic was king of Laigin [Book of Lecan version] and that her son Gilla Patraic was the father of Domnall mac Gilla Patraic. Both of these statements fit well with the Gilla Patraic mac Donnchada who died in 1055, but not with his grandfather Gilla Patraic mac Donnchada (d. 996). This means that Aife ingen Fáeláin of the Deisi was not the mother of the later Gilla Patraic, which leaves her (by process of elimination) as the mother of the earlier Gilla Patraic (which also fits the chronology better).
